Easter Joyce A. Diaz from Bacolod City, Negros Occidental won the 6th Lampara Illustrator’s Prize, a contest sponsored by Lampara Publishing House, Incorporated (LPHI). Diaz will now have the right to illustrate the book of Mark Raywin S. Tome’s Ang Bisita ni Lolo Lino, the first prize-winning entry from the 6th Lampara Children’s Story Writing Contest, also sponsored by LPHI.

    The book will be published by LPHI through its banner book imprint, Lampara Books.

    Diaz won a cash prize of PHP 25,000.00 and a certificate of merit. This is aside from the illustrator’s talent feel she will be earning from illustrating the book. 

    For this year, the board of judges were Adelio Sales, Alen Poala Mangabat, from the LPHI Art Department and Alvin Bragais, Black Ink illustrator. The judging was done at the LPHI Multipurpose Hall last 2 May 2017, with the attendance of Mr. Felix Lupig of the Department of Trade and Industry.

    A freelance graphic designer and illustrator, Diaz was a graduate of La Consolacion College with a degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts Major in Advertising.

    The awarding ceremony will be held at the SMX Mall of Asia International Convention Centre in September 2017 during the 38th Manila International Book Fair.
